The STARLIGHT project participated in the CEPOL Workshop on Artificial Intelligence, with Dr Jorge Garcia from our partner, Vicomtech, representing us. Held in Budapest, from March 25–27, 2024, the workshop provided a focused environment for discussing the role of artificial intelligence in supporting law enforcement efforts.
The workshop attracted experts and practitioners from across the EU, all keen to explore how AI can enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies, tackle the challenges it presents, and mitigate its potential misuse. Dr Garcia shared insights from the STARLIGHT project, highlighting our ongoing work to create AI tools that aid in crime prevention and investigation.
Key topics at the workshop included the advantages of AI for law enforcement, case studies showcasing innovative practices, the ethical considerations of AI development, and strategies to combat criminal use of AI technologies.
